Production Schedule
Production Schedule Template 401a Fall 2010
Pt 1:
Using your most recent storyboard, number and name all your shots and scenes. A scene is a change in location or time, a shot is a change in camera angle. Notate the camera angle. See key below. For example:
Scene 1 Shot 1- ws puppy approaches volcano
Scene 1 Shot 2- cu puppy looks worried
Scene 2 Shot 1- ms inside volcano cats dancing around a fire
CU- Close Up
XCU- extreme Close Up
MS- Medium Shot
WS- Wide Shot
Zoom In/Out
Pan up/down/right/left
Pt 2:
Plot out your weekly schedule according to the dates on the calendar. I advise you to start the schedule on August 23rd. If you are able to work over the summer, then you will be ahead of schedule which is a wonderful place to be. Plan to have your entire project (that means accounting for sound, coloring, compositing, rendering, etc…) at least 50% complete by the end of the Fall Semester.
You will have mid-progress faculty reviews during Fall semester finals week. We will also secure a seminar slot to show your work and receive feedback from the graduate students. You should all be thinking about sound throughout your production process. I suggest that all of you speak with and secure a composer and/or sound designer by the end of September. That way you can involve them in the process while you still have time to make adjustments to their work or be influenced by their suggestions on sound. Remember Midge speaking about adding subtle environmental actions (like wind chimes) to enrich the sound. If you plan to create your own sound, create a scratch track as soon as possible.
Keep your schedule specific. It sometimes helps to color code the stages and tasks. For example modeling is in blue, rigging is in red, etc. As for format, as long as it is legible, editable and in a digital format that you can give to me, you can do what works best. I’ve posted the .doc calendar with important dates on the class blog. You can use that if you wish. It may look something like this:
